We Aussies are a bunch of hypocrites, aren’t we? We like to think we’re environmentally conscious and that we’re concerned about climate change, but what are we personally doing about it? We just voted to return the Libs who are the anti-climate party and so did I. I didn’t want to lose my dwindling income to more taxes and other huge changes.
We complain about rising fuel prices, but we won’t give up the big vehicles and our lifestyle. We’re ranked lowest in the world in the use of public transport. We still build huge houses and can’t do without air-conditioning; remember when hardly anyone had air-conditioning at home?
Shouldn’t we be thinking about how we’re going to change our lifestyles? Don’t you think switching a light off here and saving a bit of water there is too little too late? I see plastic blowing down the street and not a soul stops to pick it up? Have we been living in so much comfort for too long that we can’t do anything about it now???
So, what are we going to do now that the shit is clearly hitting the fan and we are all seeing islands in South East Asia, Fiji, and the Solomon Islands completely disappearing?
