Dear Mitch and Panel,
She’s driving herself nuts over having a baby. We’ve been married for 8 years and haven’t been lucky enough to fall pregnant naturally and for the last 4 years, we’ve spent a fortune in and out of fertility clinics trying for a child of our own. She’s turning 50 next year (I’m 62) and every time there is a news special on older women in their 50’s and 60’s having babies, she records it!
She’s determined to have a baby. We’re too old to adopt which is just plain stupid because we would be able to provide a very safe, comfortable, healthy and nurturing environment for a child. But is a child everything in life? At 50 is she too old to become a new mum?
I ask these questions every day and the experts are also trying to also suggest to her that it just may not happen for us. Is this simply a futile yet expensive exercise that will just wreck our sanity because soon it will send me around the bend as well. What the right thing for all of us here, please?
